Restaurant and Retailer exposures For existing restaurant and retailer exposures who now engage in food delivery due to COVID-19 restrictions, the companies are doing the following:

  • Business Auto If a member has a Restaurant or Retail Business with an existing Auto policy:
    • Insured coverage for restaurant delivery will be covered under the Business Auto policy.  We will liberalize coverage as follows:
      • For any policy that does not currently provide hired and non-owned auto, we will be instructing claims to adjust the loss as if we have added coverage symbols 8 and 9.
      • There is no need for underwriting or the agency to make any change to the existing auto policy.
      • As this is a liberalization of coverage for a limited period, there will be no additional charge.
    • Restaurant risks that utilize third party delivery (Uber Eats, Grub Hub, Door Dash, Postmates, etc.) are eligible for coverage.
  • BOP/Package If the insured has an existing BOP or Package coverage but no Auto coverage, we can liberalize coverage as follows:
    • Multi-Line Restaurant and Retailer risks that began engaging in limited delivery due to COVID-19 restrictions are eligible if no other auto coverage applies
    • The BOP or GL Occurrence Limit will apply
    • As this is a liberalization in coverage, the umbrella coverage will not be applicable to auto losses
    • There is no need for underwriting or the agency to make any change to the existing policy
    • As this is a liberalization of coverage for a limited period, there will be no additional charge

ENCOMPASS - Shelter in Place FAQ: Arpil 27, 2020  OVERVIEW

What is the Shelter-in-Place Payback?
Allstate, Esurance and Encompass personal auto insurance customers will receive a Shelter-in-Place Payback. Most customers
will receive 15% of their monthly premium in April and May. Customers will receive the money back through a credit to their bank account, credit card or Encompass account. We are working with state insurance regulators to move forward expeditiously. 
Why are Allstate and Encompass offering this payback plan?
This crisis is pervasive. Given an unprecedented decline in driving, Allstate, Esurance and Encompass customers will receive a
Shelter-in-Place Payback of more than $600 million over the next two months. This is fair because less driving means fewer
accidents. We are also providing free identity protection for the rest of the year to all U.S residents who sign up, since our lives have become more digital.
Do we need to do any type of endorsement to the policies for the shelter in place payback?
No endorsement or action is needed. Customers with an active policy in force as of March 31, 2020 who have made a payment during the life of the policy and with at least liability-only coverage will receive a payment in April.
Customers with an active policy in force as of April 30, 2020 who have made a payment during the life of the policy and with at
least liability-only coverage will receive a payment in May.
